Rome Eternal
The Ponte Sisto console table draws its inspiration from the Ponte Sisto bridge in Rome, constructed in the second half of the 15th century. The bridge itself represents a form of creatio secunda: its Renaissance appearance emerged through the integration of structural elements—piers—from its ancient predecessor. This act of reinterpretation between past and present defines the conceptual foundation of the Ponte Sisto console table. Its proportional, symmetrical composition reflects the classical architectural character of the bridge, while maintaining a refined and contemporary expression.
The Ponte Sisto consists of two distinct elements, each functioning independently as a console table. However, the true identity of the piece is revealed when the two parts are rotated and combined, forming a silhouette that evokes the arches of the bridge. In this unified configuration, the object transforms into a new formal entity, where Renaissance principles—and their ancient lineage—are translated into a contemporary function.
The console table is produced in white, with a structured surface using SsakoolHypers’ proprietary FreeSkin™ technology. The digitally shaped, high-precision manufacturing process results in a richly detailed and durable surface that simultaneously recalls the solidity of stone architecture and the lightness of contemporary design. Its neutral color palette and clean geometry allow the Ponte Sisto to integrate seamlessly into a wide range of environments—from classical interiors to modern villas and expansive gallery spaces with generous ceiling heights.
